For 18 seasons, the winners of America's Got Talent (AGT) have invariably been singers, dancers, magicians, and animal performers. But in 2024, the 19th season went up into the air to break new ground with Sky Elements.
The Texas-based drone display team was an immediate hit on the show, becoming the first act to ever get two Golden Buzzers from judge Simon Cowell. As they progressed to the September 24 finals, each performance became increasingly viral on social media, with almost three million views and counting on the AGT YouTube channel alone.
This could have been a pinnacle for the high-flying troupe—but not even a week after their finale performance, Sky Elements returned to their home state on September 28 and set the record for the most remote-operated drones launching fireworks simultaneously.
The previous record held by Korea's Pablo Air was 1,068. Sky Elements smashed it with 1,200!
And that's not all, they even had a massive neon Moo Deng!
To ensure both the on-site adjudicators and fans on social media could see the performance up close, Sky Elements recorded their display with a separate set of drones equipped with Insta360 X4 and Ace Pro cameras. Both are lightweight and durable, making them perfect for capturing first-person footage from drones—and they both have different specialties that make them a unique and complimentary pair.
By using both X4 lenses, Sky Elements was able to capture 8K 360° footage of their performance and later reframe the shots to find the best angles. Ace Pro, however, may be the "highlight" of the show: its 1/1.3" sensor works with the in-built 5mn AI chip to get best-in-class low-light imagery. This means the bright and richly-colored pyrotechnics stand out even more against the sky over Mansfield.
But don't just take our word for it, check out highlights from the mesmerizing performance here:
