So you've got your hands on the awesome new Insta360 GO 3S – congrats!
Our latest tiny cam brings 4K quality to the table, and is packed with a bunch of improvements that make shooting adventures more effortless than ever.
So how can you make the most of it? Fear not, we have your back. In this blog we'll give you some top tips to maximize how you use GO 3S. Buckle up!
Master the Action Pod
Your secret weapon for amazing shots. If you're new to the GO 3S/GO 3 universe, the Action Pod holds your camera snugly and turns it into a standard action cam setup. But it can do a whole lot more besides:
- Remotely control your GO 3S even when it's not in the Action Pod. Get the angle just right then capture from afar, using the Action Pod as a remote control with the settings dialed in.
- Playback your footage and manage files on the move instantly, no transfer needed!
- Charge your GO 3S when it's connected to the Action Pod. Perfect if you're filming tiny shots on the move.
Already got a GO 3? Great news– the Action Pod can be used with either GO 3S or GO 3, so you don't need to buy an extra Action Pod! Standalone cameras are available for purchase via our Store, meaning you can upgrade for less.
Shoot Like a Pro: Optimized Settings
Use 4K30fps Video Mode. This is the sweet spot for the GO 3S in most lighting conditions (avoid using this in low light). It gets you the best quality out of our tiny cam!
Configure Tilt Fix. Turn this on to correct uneven mounting or shaky footage, but remember to turn it off if you need a wider field of view. If you're doing something like biking, we recommend leaving this off.
Use Jitter Blur Reduction if you're in low-light situations or moving fast, as this feature minimizes blur for sharper footage. For shots where you're standing still, keep it turned off.
For the ultimate visual experience, preview and export your footage in Dolby Vision (iOS only) viathe Insta360 app. It brings out nuanced details and enhances lighting/shadows.
MegaView vs. ActionView:
The newly added MegaView brings our widest field of view yet, with minimal edge distortion. A fantastic choice if you're planning immersive POV, capturing super wide angles, and more.
ActionView is still pretty wide, but this is best used for capturing standard 4K 16:9 or 9:16 content. We also recommend it for sports as we think the field of view is tuned just right!
Easy Switch in 4K
For the best quality no matter what, you'll need to master rotating your GO 3S to shoot 4K in either 16:9 (landscape, perfect for YouTube) or 9:16 (portrait, great for TikTok, Instagram, etc.).
As the camera is magnetic, this is easy on a whole host of surfaces. Of course this is possible on the Magnet Pendant too, but a cool new combo (only possible with the GO 3S accessories) is to combine the included Easy Clip and Magent Pendant. Put them together and you can adjust the angle for a perfectly framed 4K landscape shot.
Don't Get Lost with Apple Find My
Given it's compact form factor, GO 3S is possibly easier to misplace than a chunky old DSLR. But fear not! With its Apple Find My integration, you can quickly locate your camera if it goes missing.
Once it's set up, make sure you add GO 3S to your devices in the Find My app. From there, you'll be able to track it just like any other precious item! Now that's peace of mind.
Film All-Day Long with Interval Video
A new mode for the GO series, set timed intervals (including duration of the video), and your GO 3S will intelligently power on, film, turn itself off, then repeat, generating a set of clips throughout the day.
Combined with the Insta360 app and our AI editing powers, you'll get an awesome montage of your entire day in a snap. Perfect with kids, on your bike, and more.
New Quick Reader: Transfer, Edit and Charge On-the-Go
We've cooked up a legendary accessory with the new Quick Reader, allowing for hyperfast offloading of your GO 3S files, all while charging your camera!
