We're celebrating the release of our brand new action camera, Insta360 Ace Pro 2, this week. While we're obviously very excited by the launch, in the world of tech, it can be hard to tell if a new release is an incremental upgrade or a serious move to the next level. So, with this blog, we'll explain why you should also be excited by Insta360 Ace Pro 2!

When viewed in pure facts and figures, it's clear that Insta360 Ace Pro 2 is better than its predecessor—to truly understand just how much better, here's a rundown of the major features.
Dual AI Chip
The 5nm AI Chip in the Insta360 Ace Pro was a major breakthrough in action camera performance, but rather than tinker with it, we're going in a bold new direction by introducing a dual AI chip setup. That means that the aforementioned 5nm AI Chip is still in Insta360 Ace Pro 2, and it's still an industry leader—but it is partnered with the new Pro Imaging Chip. This outright doubles the camera's processing power by dedicating a whole new chip to noise reduction and image clarity algorithms.
Upgraded Sensor
We're continuing our work with Leica and using the co-developed SUMMARIT lens in Insta360 Ace Pro 2. It has a large f2.6 aperture, which lets in a lot of light onto our upgraded sensor. While maintaining the 1/1.3" form factor from the previous model, it has 13.5 stops of dynamic range and an equivalent pixel size of 2.4µm.
The numbers are important. More important is skipping the argot to say what this means: the increased light sensitivity gives Insta360 Ace Pro 2 the best low light mode in the field. This crosses over into other modes: there are 10 different color profiles on offer, including two from Leica—Vivid and Natural; I-Log color grading in post-production, and underwater filming maintains its brightness.
Wider FOV, Higher Frame Rate
Insta360 Ace Pro was known for really putting the "action" in "action cam." When strapped to the front of a motorbike or a skier's helmet, the footage truly captured a sense of speed.
Now that's taken into overdrive with Insta360 Ace Pro 2, which has a massive 157° field of view, which is bolstered by MegaView FOV mode. This removes distortion and maintains the aspect ratio on the edges of the frame, eliminating the glitchy vignetting effect that can occur in other wide-angle cameras.
When the resolution is bumped to 4K, Insta360 Ace Pro 2 literally doubles the frame rate of the previous model by filming in 4K60fps, and this can also happen while applying features such as Active HDR or PureVideo noise reduction.
In fact, Insta360 Ace Pro 2 can go even further and record in an astonishing 8K30fps mode. This is noticeably smoother than Insta360 Ace Pro's 8K video mode, which is capped at 24fps.
Insta360 Ace Pro 2: A New Generation for Action Cameras
It's important to highlight individual features that Insta360 Ace Pro 2 excels in, but what's clear is that none of these features are truly individual, they're deeply intertwined: the improved FOV wouldn't be possible without the new sensor, which would be rendered useless if the dual AI chip format wasn't being used, etc. And it's this that proves Insta360 Ace Pro 2 isn't a tech boondoggle; it's a true step forward in the realm of action cameras.
